Scheduled Farm Visits are available year-round.
If you are interested in volunteering or coming by with students for a field trip, see below for more info!
field trips

Black Thumb Farm hosts field trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year. Field trip activities include gardening, compost work, nature based art, farm fresh snacks and more! Our team can accommodate groups as small as 5 and as large as 50 youths.
Trips are priced on a sliding scale.
Dress appropriately, as we will be outside and getting our hand in the soil!

group volunteer days

We welcome groups to work with us, whether you are a family, book club, corporate team, all are welcome! Volunteering with us at the farm offers a chance to connect with nature while participating in BTF's mission to empower youth and fight food apartheid in our community. We ask groups to make a donation on their behalf, which will go directly to the work we do. We can accommodate groups as small as 5 and as large as 30.
summer volunteer days

Because our Farm Hands Program runs from October-June, our volunteer days are limited to the summer. Our summer volunteers have contributed immensely to the farm, including projects like building the greenhouse and caring for the chickens. This summer we will have volunteers on Fridays during July(except July 28) and August, as well as Saturdays in September. Check out our calendar and come through!
